Youth Parliament and Holds Committee and Plenary Meeting


Baucau, 19/12/2022 : Member of the Youth Parliament (PFN) fourth period 2019-2022 held a bench meeting in Baucau Municipality, the objective of this bench meeting to elaborate data from each municipality in the national territory, so 'e can be presented in the final plenary of the fourth period of the PFN on 21 and 22 December 2022

In the opening of the meeting, participated by the Director General of SEJD, David Tomas de Deus said “the youth parliament program is the basis for the government resolution in the country. 23/2009 with first amendment no. 47/2017 for the establishment of the Youth Parliament

“This program is the fourth starting from 2019-2022, during the three-year mandate they have attended trainings such as: Civic Education, Public Speaking, LSBE, social entrepreneurship, basic journalism, social analysis, public debate, management organization, sovereign body, anti-corruption, basic leadership, environment, public debate and study visit”. Director General of SEJD, David Tomas de Deus told reporters in Baukau, 19/12/2022

The Director added, in the study visit they took data on five (5) topics related to the national youth policy such as Health, Education, Employment and Employability, Civic Participation, Violence and Crime, so and through this meeting of the youth parliament can accumulate data that they take to present in the next plenary

“Youth Parliament members must be solutions to problems, not only as part of recommendations, but must also be solutions to things that PFN members can especially relate to the problems faced by young people including adding what have you learned from the Youth Parliament Program”. He added

Meanwhile, the meeting was held at the Administrative Post of Baucau Village, Baucau Municipality. During five (5) days from December 18 to December 23, 2022 there will be committee and plenary meetings, therefore participants in the meeting totaled 87 composed of 37 women and 50 men.

This activity was organized by the Alumni of the Youth Parliament of Timor-Leste (APFTL) and supported by SEJD.

The budget allocated to the Youth Parliament for the fourth period during three years amounted to USD 468,735.90
